I teach Drawing/Painting One and Ceramics One at East High School. I have my Masters Degree in Fine Arts and have been teaching high school art students for over 20 years. Teaching art is a passion of mine. I love to see the "lights come on", when a student suddenly understands a new art concept or technique. This often begins the process of a new way to look at and approach endeavors of creativity.
This site has been created so both students and parents can see what is happening and has happened in my classes at East High School. I teach Draw/Paint One and Sculpture One. It also includes daily expected outcomes and assignments. This helps students in a number of ways. It can:
1) Refresh his/her memory about what has been discussed and what is expected.
2) If a student is absent, it is expected that he/she will go to this site to read about the assignments and complete them. There
will be additional materials often that need to be opened and/or printed off that were originally handed out in class.
3) Accessing information on line cuts down the unnecessary use of paper which is good for the environment.
4) Due dates are posted on this site and are easy to access.
5) Students can share with their families what is happening in class by using this website.

Draw/Paint One
Draw/Paint One is a class geared towards beginners but also provides guidance and assignments that easily allow for more advanced students to be challenged and create amazing pieces of art work. We begin by learning the basics of drawing through the exploration of the Elements of Art. This class is similar to any other At East in that each project or lesson prepares the student for what is to come.

We create functional and non functional ceramic pieces. Students will also learn how to sculpt using clay. |
Ceramics One
Pinch pot building, slab construction and coil construction are all part of this class. We also create pieces using combined techniques.
