The block day will be spent completing unfinished projects, SPECIFICALLY YOUR HEART SHAKER AND YOUR DRAPE/HUMP PIECE.
STUDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT PART OF YOUR GRADE IS BASED ON HOW WELL YOU TAKE CARE OF THE ROOM, YOUR AREA, THE TOOLS YOU USE AND PROPER CLEAN-UP ON YOUR PART. WE WORK AS A TEAM AND CLEAN UP AFTER OURSELVES AS WELL AS PERFORM OUR REQUIRED DUTIES EACH DAY IN CLASS.
- HEART SHAKER REQUIREMENTS - 1. two pinch pots properly adhered to one another and shaped into a heart shape. 2. approximately twelve small clay balls shaped and placed inside before adhering pinch pots together. 3. heart is covered at least 50% with crisp intentional texture. 4. places are pressed in and pulled out of the form to create an interesting multilevel surface 5. heart has either a post fired finish, stoneware glaze or mayco stroke and coat glaze successfully applied 6. students present the finished piece to me for grading before taking home
- DRAPE/HUMP MOLD REQUIREMENTS - 1. slab is successfully rolled out so it covers the hump mold 2. student carefully forms the slab around the mold to create an even surface with no folds or bulges 3. one complete side must have a texture carefully pressed into it, the texture is crisp, uniform and intentional in appearance 4. a foot is successfully applied to the vessel, it supports the piece and is even (it DOES NOT rock back and forth). 5. the finished piece is smoothed on the side that has no texture 6. the walls of the piece, including the lip, should be even 6. a lip is applied if needed for the success of the piece
